COVID-19 Vaccinations

Vaccination clinics will begin for our practices week beginning 4th January 2021. As part of National Guidance clinics are being held at a central locality as directed by Public Health England. Our eligible patients will be vaccinated at Bede Centre, Old Fold Road, Gateshead, NE10 0DJ.  Parking is available at Gateshead Stadium and a shuttle bus will be in operation. If you need to cancel your appointment after it has been made you can call the Bede Centre directly on 07518 853 890.

Venue information is detailed in the following link Bede Centre Information.  Patients will be invited to book appointments (2 needed, up to 12 weeks apart) by the practice according to the National Immunisation Plan as follows:

Group 1 – 4 – all vaccinated / offered vaccination

Group 5 Adults 65 – 69 years – from week beginning 15th February 2021 – contact us directly / attend Mass Vaccination site

Group 6 Adults 16-64 years in at risk group (asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart disease etc – ‘usually have a flu jab’) – from week beginning 15th February 2021 – we will contact you to book appointment

Group 7 All over 60 years – date TBC

Group 8 All over 55 years – date TBC

Group 9 All over 50 years – date TBC

We are unable to vaccinate outside of this national plan nor are we aware when each group will be called as this will depend on vaccine availability. It is very important that you ensure your GP has your correct mobile phone number to enable us to invite you in a timely fashion to book your appointments for vaccination.

We urge patients to be vigilant to Vaccine Fraudsters who have taken the opportunity to target vulnerable patients in an attempt to obtain money and / or financial & personal details. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COVID VACCINE IS FREE AND YOU WILL NEVER BE ASKED TO PAY FOR OR PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION TO  US IN ORDER TO GET THE COVID VACCINE. Please see alert issued by the Government Counter fraud Office Vaccine Fraud Poster

Face masks

Following a recent change in government guidance surrounding the use of face masks in public spaces, you will now be expected to wear a mask when attending the vaccine centre. Children under the age of 11 years old do not need to wear a mask. We recognise that the wearing of a mask is not appropriate for all patients and therefore if you have any concerns about this, please contact the surgery for advice. Please note that the centre will NOT be able to supply face masks to patients and therefore patients must attend with their own masks. Please refer to guidance issued by our Local Medical Committee.
